Baja Productions was founded by filmmaker and co-founder of BAJA ECOTOURS, Johnny Friday, whose award-winning documentaries have brought Baja’s wild beauty to audiences around the world. With over two decades of experience in remote field production, Johnny’s work has been featured on National Geographic, BBC, Discovery, and PBS.

In 2025, he was honored with the Best Cinematography Award for The Last Dive, a visually stunning film exploring an unlikely bond between a Giant Manta and a man. His career includes an Emmy Award, and recognition at international wildlife film festivals for his ability to blend compelling storytelling with powerful environmental imagery.

Specializing in marine wildlife and expedition-style filmmaking, Baja Productions has provided field logistics, wildlife expertise, and production support for top-tier crews across the globe. That same deep understanding and respect of the environment is at the heart of Baja Ecotours.

From capturing underwater footage of gray whale calves to coordinating safe, respectful whale encounters, our background in film and conservation shapes every journey we lead. Whether you’re behind the camera or on the water at San Ignacio Lagoon, you’re part of a larger story — one of discovery, preservation, and deep connection to the natural world.
